Show starts at 08:00 PM June 6, 2008 Red Robinson Show Theatre
The Grammy Award winning Pointer Sisters began their formal vocal training in their father’s church in West Oakland, California and went on to achieve worldwide fame securing a place in pop music history as a dynamic female group. Beginning in 1973 with their self-titled debut album, the group has produced a total of eighteen albums creating a long string of hits including “Yes We Can Can,” “Fire,” “He’s So Shy,” “Slow Hand,” “I’m So Excited,” “Automatic,” “Jump” and “Neutron Dance.” In recent years the Pointer Sisters have performed with some of the greatest symphony orchestras in the world including San Francisco, Jacksonville and Atlanta along with the renowned Boston Pops. In 2003, Ruth’s daughter, Issa, enthusiastically joined the group … she had been singing since childhood and was a natural performer. Over the years, she had occasionally joined her mother and aunts on the road and on stage … just for fun. Twenty-three years later, Issa’s all grown up now and has the vocal chords to prove it. In 2002, Ruth, Anita and Issa were a smash hit at “Night of the Proms” which spanned over fifty sold-out performances throughout Germany, Holland and Belgium and resulted in securing the group many more successful tours in Europe. The group recorded a live CD/DVD in 2004 which captured the energetic Pointers performing the hits that fans of all ages continue to enjoy. Today Ruth, Anita and Issa maintain a busy touring schedule and will include in it a one night engagement at the Boulevard Casino’s Red Robinson Show Theatre in June.
