Show starts at 08:00 PM February 21, 2009 Red Robinson Show Theatre
Born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Brent Butt discovered early that being funny was a good way to get attention. Brent honed his comedy in school and at the age of twenty, he moved to the city to pursue a career in stand-up. Within months he was headlining top clubs in Toronto and within a couple of years, he was touring internationally and appearing at major festivals. Brent's television specials quickly secured his reputation as one of the funniest people in the country but he was also creating his own TV series – a sitcom called “Corner Gas.” It premiered on CTV in January, 2004 and became an instant hit with unprecedented ratings and numerous accolades including an International Emmy Award nomination and was named “Funniest Show on TV” by TV Guide readers. Canada’s #1 comedy is now shown in over twenty-six countries including in the US and is currently airing its sixth and final season. Brent has been honoured for his many achievements including being presented with the Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award in June. He recently announced plans for a new half-hour comedy pilot for CTV and that work has begun on his first feature film which he will write, possibly star in and co-produce under his Sparrow Media banner and in partnership with Brightlight Pictures. Making his home in Vancouver for the last ten years, Brent continues to tour the country performing in clubs, theatres and as a much sought after corporate entertainer. “I love what I do,” he says. “I look at it as just having coffee. Only now it’s with hundreds of people at a time.” Brent will be returning to the Boulevard Casino’s Red Robinson Show Theatre in February, 2009.
