For the past six decades, there has been only one “King of the Blues” – Riley B. King – affectionately known as B.B. King. Since B.B. started recording in the late ‘40s, he has released over fifty albums … many of which are considered blues classics including 1965’s definitive live blues album, Live At The Regal and 1976’s collaboration with Bobby “Blue” Band, Together For The First Time. Over the years, B.B. has had two #1 hits: 1951’s “Three O’Clock Blues” and 1952’s “You Don’t Know Me” and four #2 hits: 1953’s “Please Love Me,” 1954’s “You Upset Me Baby,” 1960’s “Sweet Sixteen, Part l” and 1966’s “Don’t Answer The Door, Part I.” His most popular crossover hit, 1970’s “The Thrill Is Gone” went to #15 on the pop charts. Throughout the span of his career, B.B. has been bestowed a total of fifteen Grammy Awards by his peers. As well, he was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1984 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. That same year, he received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2001, he became the official supporter of “Little Kids Rock” … a non-profit organization that provides free musical instruments and instruction to children in underserved public schools throughout the US. He has guest starred on numerous television shows over the years including ABC’s The Pearl Bailey Show, NBC’s The Cosby Show, CBS’s The Young and the Restless, FOX’s Married With Children and PBS’s Sesame Street. As well, he appeared in the feature films, Spies Like Us (1985) and Blues Brothers 2000 (1998) both of which were directed by John Landis. B.B. and his famous guitar “Lucille” continue to tour worldwide … performing an average of 275 concerts a year. From small town cafés and country dance halls to jazz clubs and prestigious concert halls, B.B. King has become the most renowned blues musician of the past sixty years. He’ll be performing all of his classics including “Payin’ The Cost To Be The Boss,” “Caldonia,” “How Blue Can You Get?,” “Everyday I Have The Blues” and “Why I Sing The Blues” at Boulevard Casino’s Red Robinson Show Theatre in November, 2010.
