Event Starts at 08:00 PM Saturday, October 30, 2010 Red Robinson Show Theatre
From his days of long hours as a truck driver to his third place finish on Season 8 of FOX's American Idol, singer-songwriter Danny Gokey has soaked up more life experience than most people twice his age. During his tenure on Idol, the Milwaukee native impressed the judges with his versatility as he performed hits by Carrie Underwood, Michael Jackson and Rascal Flatts among others. As he continued to rise through the ranks of Idol hopefuls, it became increasingly clear that Gokey was able to sing any style of music and turn any song into a compelling moment. So why did he choose a career as a country artist? “I felt like I could be myself” Gokey says matter-of-factly. Last fall, he signed with 19 Recordings/RCA Nashville and this past March, he released his first album, My Best Days which debuted on the Billboard charts at #4. The music video for the album’s single, “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me” made an impressive debut on GAC’s weekly fan-voted Top 20 Country Countdown. Gokey also returned to the American Idol stage to perform the song on the March 4th telecast. He credits his late wife, Sophia, with the inspiration to pursue his musical dreams on Idol and he continues to honour her with the charitable work of the Sophia’s Heart Foundation which was founded in her memory. Danny Gokey will be performing for one night only at Boulevard Casino’s Red Robinson Show Theatre in October. Ages 16+
