True Motown legends, The Four Tops’ first hit, “Baby I Need Your Loving” was released in 1964 making them instant stars. The songs that followed – “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),” “It’s The Same Old Song,” “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” “Standing In The Shadows Of Love” and “Bernadette” – each became across-the-board successes. Their additional hits included “Ask The Lonely,” “Shake Me, Wake Me (When It’s Over),” “Something About You,” “You Keep Running Away,” “7-Rooms Of Gloom” along with their covers of “Walk Away Renee” and “If I Were A Carpenter.” Their string of hits continued into the 70’s with “It’s All In The Game,” “Still Water (Love),” “Ain’t No Woman (Like The One I’ve Got),” “Keeper Of The Castle,” “Are You Man Enough,” “Sweet Understanding Love,” “One Chain Don’t Make No Prison,” “Midnight Flower” and the disco perennial, “Catfish.” In 1981, they released the #1 hit, “When She Was My Girl” making them one of the few groups to have hits in three consecutive decades. They also scored with the ballads, “Tonight I’m Gonna Love You All Over” and “I Believe In You And Me” which was the original version of Whitney Houston’s 1996 hit. They then released “I Just Can’t Walk Away,” “Sexy Ways” and their final solo Top 40 hit, “Indestructible” which was used by NBC as the theme for its coverage of the 1988 Summer Olympic Games. That same year, they partnered with Aretha Franklin for “If Ever A Love There Was.” With a total of twenty-four Top 40 hits to their credit, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990. The Four Tops still enjoy performing to sold-out audiences throughout North America and will be appearing for a one-night engagement at Boulevard Casino’s Red Robinson Show Theatre in October.
