More than two decades ago, Pat Benatar began breaking rules and blazed a new trail for female rock stars. Pat was bold, self-assured and independent … songs such as “Love Is A Battlefield,” “We Belong,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “We Live For Love” and “Heartbreaker” became anthems for a new attitude. At the dawn of MTV, Pat was the image of the female rocker for an entire generation of young women … and the young men who loved them. That generation has grown up with her and others have walked down the path she helped pave. Over the last few years, Pat has been busy in front of the camera appearing in cameo roles on several TV shows including The WB’s “Charmed,” ABC’s “Dharma and Greg” and FOX’s “That ‘80s Show.” Still going strong, Pat has been married for 26 years to accomplished guitarist and songwriter Neil Giraldo. Neil is also known as a prolific producer having produced all of Pat’s albums along with other artists including The Del Lords, Rick Springfield and Kenny Loggins. Pat often refers to him as “The Big Kahuna” and the name fits as Neil is the major reason that Pat’s music sounds the way it does in the recording studio and on tour. Just this past February, Pat and Neil appeared as themselves on the CBS soap opera, “The Young and the Restless” where they performed at the fictitious Indigo Club. The parents of two daughters, Haley, 23 and Hana, 14, Pat and Neil currently reside in Hawaii and are getting ready to work on an autobiography focussing on their lives and times in the music industry.
