In the fall of 1986, Dana Carvey joined NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” where during his seven seasons, he became known for several recurring characters including Church Chat’s The Church Lady, Hans (of the Hans and Franz bodybuilding duo), Garth from Wayne’s World and Weekend Update’s Grumpy Old Man along with his comedic impersonations of such political figures as George W. Bush and Ross Perot and such celebrities as Johnny Carson, Jimmy Stewart, Mickey Rooney, Casey Kasem and Regis Philbin. Carvey also co-starred in the blockbuster film, Wayne’s World and its sequel, Wayne’s World 2. He returned to television in 1996 reprising many of his SNL characters for “The Dana Carvey Show” a critically acclaimed but short-lived prime time variety show which aired on ABC. Carvey won an Emmy Award in 1993 for “Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.”
